Explore responsibly, discover offbeat places, guided by locals, rooted in culture.
Himachal Pradesh is a mountain state in the western Himalaya, stretching from the forested Shivalik hills to the high cold deserts of Spiti and Lahaul. Its capital is Shimla.
Its regions differ sharply. Shimla, Narkanda and the apple country of the Pabbar valley sit in the outer hills. Kinnaur, Spiti and Lahaul lie beyond the main range. Kullu and Manali, the Parvati valley, Kangra, Dharamshala and Chamba each have their own temples, villages and food. The Kalka-Shimla railway and the Great Himalayan National Park are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The best time to visit Himachal Pradesh is March to June and September to November. The high passes to Spiti and Lahaul usually open from about June to October, and winter brings snow to much of the state.
Pollen Dots plans customised journeys anywhere in Himachal Pradesh, with local stays and guides from the valleys. Browse the journeys and stories below, or write to us to plan a journey around what you want to see.
