Nagaland is a hill state in Northeast India on the border with Myanmar, home to more than a dozen major Naga tribes, each with its own language, dress and festivals. Its capital is Kohima.
Travellers come for Kohima and its Second World War cemetery, the green village of Khonoma, the Dzükou valley, the Konyak villages of Mon, the Amur falcons at Doyang and much more. The Hornbill Festival, held near Kohima from 1 to 10 December, brings all the tribes together. Sekrenyi, Moatsu, Aoleang, Tuluni and many more are celebrated in the villages.
The best time to visit Nagaland is October to May. Indian visitors from outside the state need an Inner Line Permit.
