Gujarat

Gujarat is a state on India's west coast, with the longest coastline of any Indian state. It takes in the salt desert of the Rann of Kutch, the peninsula of Saurashtra, and the plains of North and Central Gujarat. Its capital is Gandhinagar, and its largest city is Ahmedabad.

Gujarat has four UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Harappan city of Dholavira, the stepwell of Rani ki Vav at Patan, Champaner-Pavagadh, and the historic city of Ahmedabad. Sasan Gir is the only place in the world where Asiatic lions live in the wild. Kutch is known for its crafts, from bandhani and ajrakh to embroidery and pottery.

The best time to visit Gujarat is October to March. The White Rann is at its best in the winter months, and Navratri fills the state with garba in autumn.

Pollen Dots plans customised journeys anywhere in Gujarat, with local guides and time in the craft villages. Browse the journeys and stories below, or write to us to plan a journey around what you want to see.
